Some key details for the 2025 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Champs

WHO

While the world's best Ocean Racing (Surfski) male and female paddlers will be competing for World Championship titles in senior, U23, junior and masters age groups, hundreds of other paddlers will be enjoying the superb surfski conditions off the Durban coastline in a week-long series of events.

WHAT

The 2025 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Champs. There will be events for SS1 (surfski single) and SS2 (surfski double). World Championship medals will be awarded for SS1 and mixed SS2 in relevant age categories. There will also be other associated events both on and off the water.

WHERE

Racing on both days will start at DUC. Paddlers will head downwind to Toti (28km) if it is a north-east wind, or to Umdloti (24km) if it is a south west. In very light wind conditions the provisional course will be DUC to Umhlanga and back, and if there is an unsafe sea a Durban Harbour Course will be used.

WHEN

Dependent on wind and surf conditions, racing will be held within a three-day race window, on Friday October 17, Saturday October 18 or Sunday October 19, with pre-race registration taking place on Thursday October 16. Race briefing will be at the start location before the start each day. These dates are subject to change.
